Quote for November 8, 2008 – Family
Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family: Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one. – Jane Howard
I know that I, like many other bloggers, like to try to remain a bit anonymous online – or as much as any person can when they work and play on the net. Everyone has their reasons, for some it’s about safety, for some it’s about privacy. My reasons include those, but mostly, I just like it that way.
As a result, I will never type my husband or my children’s name out. I may or may not use versions of my name, pretend or otherwise. Odd as it may be in relation to everything else, I am not opposed to sharing some of our family photographs. Don’t really know how to explain that. It simply is what it is.
Our Monikers, Nicknames, Handles and Aliases:
Gyps, Gypsy, SuburbanGypsy, Ell, Lib, LibAnn, Ann: That would be me, your guide through the Gypsy Camp. I am the boss! My husband has said it several times over, and I have to say I agree with him completely, that it is MY world, they [my family] are just living in it.
HemiMan, Hubster, The Husband, DH: This is my choice of life partners – the man I know G-d always meant for me to be with. Admittedly, some days I wonder why exactly I made this choice LOL but I love him to distraction. His heart and his love for me makes it all worth it. He is so sweet and kind in spite of himself. He is my better half.
Fizz, Jr. Fizz, Mini Fizz, Kiddo, ODS: This is my oldest son. My Fizzy Boy has adopted the nickname his uncle, my brother, named himself some years back – Fizz. I am not even sure that he is aware of that. He may be. I don’t know. My Fizzy Boy is my heart. My first born, my first true love. He is so much a part of me, that within his personality I cannot even begin to see the start of his father, my ex-hole. He is my family through and through.
Princess, Baby Girl, ODD: This is my oldest daughter. She is most certainly the Princess. She is dark (in coloring, not spirit) and beautiful. She is smart and has an attitude that doesn’t stop. BUT her heart is gold and she cannot stand to even think she may hurt someone she loves. She is my people pleaser. She just rolls with the punches.
Bubba, Lil Man, YDS: This is my youngest son. My special needs preschooler/kindergartner. He has Apraxia of Speech, is on the Autism Spectrum and something else neurological going on that we have yet to get to the bottom of. Lil Man is my handful. I thought I had it figured out with my older two, but then G-d gave me my Bubba and showed me I didn’t know nothin. Lil Man is so sweet and his eyes look right into your soul.
Special thing about my boys – When I am upset, it is my boys who are the first to rush to my side and nurture me.
The Baby, The Queen, The Queen of Everything, YDD: Yeah, yeah. I know I said I am the boss. BUT she is the Queen. This is my youngest daughter, my youngest child. My last child! Because, phew! she is the most spirited child I have and momma seriously doesn’t know if I could handle another after The Queen.
Neat thing to know about us – We are all born in the month of July. Though the first 5 of us are all born under the Cancer sun sign, my baby, she is a Leo.
And a Leo she is! My little lioness. She is fierce, in temperament, in the way she loves, the way she communicates. She has her own mind, even at just over a year old, and cannot be deterred when she has her sights set on something. And watch out if you think otherwise.
Special thing about my girls – I am not the “friend” kind of mommy. I am a MOMMY, period. But each of my girls are truly my friend. I look into their eyes and into their hearts and know a better friend I have yet to find than these creatures that were born of my own body.
And that is who is who in the Gypsy Camp. Take some time and look around. I hope you enjoy getting to know us better, one blog entry at a time.
